Lost data recovery
It is possible for you to lose data on a computer or network system for a wide number of reasons, but in many cases lost data recovery is not only possible, but is probable. Some of the reasons for data to be lost include:
- Unable to access drives or partitions
- Corrupted data
- Data loss because of a virus
- Hard disk component failure such as the motor or read/write heads
- Physical damage through fire, water etc
- Surface contamination
- Accidental deletion or formatting
- Unable to power up
As you can see there can be a wide variety of failure reasons to storage media, but in most cases lost data recovery can be carried out.
Physical damage always causes at least some data loss, and in many cases the logical makeup of the file system is also damaged. This causes logical damage that has to be dealt with before any files can be salvaged from the failed media. End users cannot repair most physical damage, and in those cases where they try lost data recovery, they usually end up with further damage or loss. Opening a hard disk in a normal environment can allow airborne dust to settle on the platter and become caught between the platter and the read/write head, causing new head crashes that further damage the platter and thus compromise the recovery process. Furthermore, end users generally do not have the hardware or technical expertise required to make these repairs. Lost data recovery is best left to the experts, who have all the necessary equipment and knowledge.
